What to expect...

We love to work with athletes but Resolve Sports Therapy provides treatment options that can benefit anyone who might experience pain or restricted range of motion.

You have a lot of choices for treatment methods and practitioners to work with for injury recovery. We strongly believe that finding the therapist and method that works best for you is critically important, but can also be a daunting task. This is why we offer a Free Assessment option as a way to meet the therapist, make your impressions, get your questions answered and get an actual feel for what we do.

But, if you’re ready to receive treatment from Resolve Sports Therapy, here are a few common questions answered to give a better idea of how we work and what to expect when you arrive.

Can I get a Swedish, Deep Tissue, or Hot Stone Massage at Resolve?

Resolve Sports Therapy is not a spa and we don’t offer full-body massage. We target specific problem areas to restore muscle function and range of motion.

What should I wear?

Movement is a key component to our therapy, so we recommend light-weight, athletic style clothing that won’t hinder range of motion.

Where can I park when I arrive?

Parking is a premium in South O. Resolve has one reserved tandem space behind our building (directly behind the vehicle with the Resolve logo in the back window), if that space is full, please park on the street.

Is the treatment painful?

Sometimes the therapy we provide can be intense, or “painful in a good way.” Often our goal is to break up internal scar tissue to restore muscle function, and sometimes that hurts. We make every effort to check in and keep an open line of communication with our clients to ensure the treatment doesn’t get too intense.

Will it hurt after the treatment?

Soreness in the treated area the following day may sometimes occur but should not last longer than 24-36 hours. This is normal and part of your body’s healing process.

Do you take insurance?

We do not work with medical insurance providers at this time. We do accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Venmo, checks or cash. When you schedule the appointment, you also have the option to prepay for the session and can even securely store your payment info for convenience in booking future followups.

Which treatment session should I book for my first visit?

Complete Care is ideal for initial treatments. The Complete Care Treatment lasts approximately 40 minutes for assessment, functional movement screening, and combination of soft tissue modalities such as ART®, Cupping, IASTM, and Kinesio Tape as deemed appropriate by the therapist, followed by 10 minutes in the Recovery Zone.

How many treatment sessions will I need to get rid of my pain?

It depends on the type and nature of the injury and how your body reacts to the treatment. Most people experience some relief after one treatment and many injuries can be resolved in 2-5 treatments, others may require more.

How often should I come in?

This also depends on the injury and how your body reacts to the treatment; an aggressive approach might be 2-3x per week and a typical approach would be weekly treatments until the issue is resolved. Follow-up recovery and prevention treatments thereafter are then scheduled on an as-needed basis. For more on this, check out the memberships section below.

Will I need to fill out paperwork before receiving treatment?

After booking your first session with the Book Now button, check your email. You will receive an appointment confirmation and a link to a digital intake form (check your spam folder if you don’t see the emails). Please complete the intake form prior to your appointment. Be as thorough and detailed as possible on the intake form, the more information we have to work with, the more efficient and effective the sessions tend to be.

I started training for _____ (race, event, challenge, etc.) and want to make sure I don’t get injured before race day. Can Resolve help?

Yes! The membership program was originally designed with endurance athletes in mind as a way to prevent injury during a long training block leading up to a single event or race. With regular prevention treatments and self-care recovery plans, we can head off any nagging muscle pains before they become a show-stopping injury, especially as training volume increases.

I got tapped, how long should I leave it on?

Kinesio tape should stay on and remain effective for 3-5 days.

Can I still take a shower with the tape on?

The tape will continue to work and stay sticky in the shower, pool, or ocean without any issues.

It’s been 5 days, how should I take the tape off?

Carefully so that the adhesive doesn’t break or irritate the skin. When peeling the tape off, pull it parallel to the skin rather than away from the body. Warm water (like in the shower) or oils (essential, olive, coconut, etc.) can help break up the glue to get it to release from the skin.

Does cupping cause bruising?

The suction cups will bring blood to the surface and often leave a circular therapeutic “hicky”. The marks will sometimes last for a few days but occasionally longer than a week. If the marks are a concern, please bring it up with the therapist prior to treatment.
